Most recognizable as Napoleon Dynamite’s Kip, the lisping tech geek who “chats Online with babes all day,” Aaron Ruell has never had much interest in acting. Rather, a longtime photographer, Ruell is debuting his first US solo show in New Orleans at the Martine Chaisson Gallery with a series of shiny saturated portraits, found objects and imagined scenes imbued with subtly thoughtful humor. Ruell, whose amazing photographs taken at the kitschy Madonna Inn (included in the photo gallery above) appeared in our Spring 2010 Fashion Issue, recently chatted with us about leaving acting, his work and his self-appointed status as a “huge music snob.”
