Leslie Fry
January 4, 2020 - March 7, 2020
Leslie Fry's sculptures and works on paper are inspired by basic human needs: food, shelter, clothing, and love. The intersection of the natural world and the human-made world drives her work. Female body imagery has been central in her art — based on ways women’s bodies have been controlled and represented throughout history, and through her own experience. “I draw, print, model, and cast by combining organic materials such as plants, paper, clay, and fabric with plaster, concrete, metal, and resin. Recent works on paper have taken on new lives as animations. In my ongoing sculpture series, Supports, architectural details are imbued with human expression about life’s precariousness. Forms are stacked to evoke balance, endurance, falling apart, and holding together.”

Robyn LeRoy-Evans Birthday It’s past noon and I’m sitting in my bed, ceiling fan whirling above me, listening to your favourite man from The Six, eating melon and photographing myself. Skin and skin and skin, layers of sheets, clothing, fruit… tongue around flesh, juice flows through gapped-teeth… I’m so, I’m so, I’m so, I’m so, […]
